UK CBT Hosts 3rd DLT Seminar Series Backed by Exponential Science

On 16 October, the UK Centre for Blockchain Technology (UK CBT) hosted the third session of its DLT Seminar Series, sponsored by Exponential Science. The session featured Dr Owen Vaughan, founder and CEO of Bitroots, who explored Bitcoin’s role in energy management, sustainability, and financial innovation.

Dr Vaughan highlighted how Bitcoin mining can monetise excess renewable energy, support grid expansion, and contribute to ethical, verifiable digital assets. He also presented Bitroots’ pioneering platform for certified “green” Bitcoin, offering transparency on energy use, provenance, and mining practices.

The session sparked lively discussion on renewable energy integration, mining economics, and blockchain innovation.
