Jo led the development of the Reuters Forex Trading product (USD 2Tn/day). While at Reuters he invented the international standard for news, NewsML and led Reuters efforts in mobile later becoming a start-up founder, CTO, advisor and CTO-in-Residence at Telefonica’s accelerator, Wayra. While Head of Technology at Deutsche Bank’s Innovation team, he led various transformative initiatives and technology adoptions. He founded industry forum Mobile Monday London and co-created The Mobile Academy with UCL, chaired four W3C working groups and wrote a dozen W3C notes and standards.

Timothy Lane served as Deputy Governor from February 2009 until his retirement from the Bank of Canada in September 2022. As a member of the Bank’s Governing Council, he shared responsibility for decisions with respect to monetary policy and financial system stability, and for setting the strategic direction of the Bank. He oversaw the Bank’s funds management and currency functions — notably including the Bank’s ongoing research and analysis of developments in financial technology, crypto-assets and digital currencies. Mr. Lane’s responsibilities as Deputy Governor covered a series of different areas. From 2014 through July 2018, he was responsible for the Bank’s analysis of international economic developments in support of monetary policy decisions — serving as the Bank’s G7 and G20 Deputy. Previously, he was responsible for overseeing the Bank’s work on financial markets (2010–13) and its analysis of Canadian economic developments (2009–10). He joined the Bank in August 2008 as an Adviser to the Governor. Prior to joining the Bank, he served for 20 years on the staff of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington, DC. During that period, he worked on a wide range of issues and contributed to the IMF’s work on a number of countries. He has published research on various topics including monetary policy, financial crises, IMF reform, and economic transition. During 2004–05, Mr. Lane was a Visiting Fellow at the University of Oxford. He has also served as Assistant Professor of Economics at Michigan State University (1984-88) and at the University of Iowa (1983-84). Born in Ottawa, Mr. Lane received a BA (Honours) from Carleton University in 1977 and a PhD in economics from the University of Western Ontario in 1983.

Recently a Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, Jason is a seasoned entrepreneur, advisor and investor in the Web3 space. He has founded 4 startups and a non-profit, and led M&A and venture investments for an investment fund. Jason’s industry experience is in Web3, e-commerce, and real estate; with a particular focus on leveraging Web3 technologies to tackle challenges in climate change and financial inclusion. Prior to this, he served as an infantry officer in the Singapore Armed Forces.

Dr. Boris Battistini is a Director at Metellus AG, a private investment office in Zurich, specialised in venture capital, private equity and direct investments. He was a Senior Research Fellow in Entrepreneurship at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich) and a Co-Founder of the ETH Corporate Innovation Lab. He was a Co-Founder and Board Director of the Swiss Finance and Technology Association.

Marcus Treacher is a global payments and blockchain expert, with 30 years' experience building international businesses focused on digital and emerging technology payment infrastructure. Marcus has held global leadership roles with household names such as Citigroup, HSBC, and Ripple, and has served on the boards of SWIFT, CHAPS and RippleNet. He currently sits on the board of CB Growth Holdings and RTGS Global advising on strategic growth.

Veronica is an experienced digital innovation leader and strategic advisor in the financial services sector. She served for over 20 years in global leadership roles at UBS and Barclays. She spearheaded the UBS blockchain lab starting in 2015, and has provided support to numerous start-ups and entrepreneurs with dedicated programs, being a driver for ecosystem partnerships and an open and inclusive future of finance.
