FAQ
Exponential Science is a not-for-profit foundation that accelerates the safe and widespread adoption of emerging digital technologies such as blockchain (DLT), artificial intelligence (AI) and other emerging technologies. The foundation consists of researchers who turn fundamental science into new ventures and discoveries and facilitate collaboration across academia, industry, and governments.
Exponential Science advances the responsible development of technologies like blockchain (DLT) and AI through research, grants, education, and strategic collaboration. By connecting academia, industry, and government, the foundation helps shape policy, build open infrastructure, and accelerate innovation for the public good.
Activities are structured around three pillars:
- Education: Delivering high-quality learning experiences to build critical understanding of emerging technologies.
- Research: Conducting rigorous studies on the implications and applications of digital technologies.
- Innovation: Translating research insights into practical solutions for societal challenges.
Exponential technologies are innovations that grow at an accelerating pace, often doubling in capability or performance over short periods of time. Examples include artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing, and blockchain technology. These technologies can transform industries and improve lives on a global scale.
Distributed ledger technologies and artificial intelligence are foundational to the future of governance, finance, and science. These technologies present both significant opportunities and notable risks. Responsible development and deployment form the core of the foundation’s mission.
Exponential Science seeks to accelerate scientific discovery, guide ethical innovation, and influence policy frameworks. Impact is measured through academic outputs, public engagement, institutional partnerships, and the practical deployment of technology.
The foundation provides funding, resources, and collaboration opportunities to scientists, researchers, and innovators working on cutting-edge projects. Support includes grants, partnerships with leading institutions, holding regular educational and networking events, and running hackathons and boot camps.
Several pathways for engagement are available:
- Fellows and Grants: Supporting researchers and innovators on high-impact projects.
- Careers: Offering roles across a range of disciplines contributing to the mission.
- Collaborations: Working with partners on research, education, or innovation initiatives.
