Exponential Science is proud to announce that the foundation has become a signatory of the Global Call for AI Red Lines, a worldwide initiative calling on governments and industry to set clear, verifiable boundaries for advanced artificial intelligence.
Launched during the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the AI Red Lines initiative brings together a broad coalition of leaders in policy, academia, and industry. More than 300 prominent figures, including 10 former heads of state and ministers, over 90 organisations, and 15 Nobel Prize and Turing Award recipients, have already joined the call.
The pledge calls for the urgent establishment of AI red lines, which are specific prohibitions on AI uses or behaviours that are deemed too dangerous to permit under any circumstances. They represent internationally agreed limits designed to prevent AI from causing universally unacceptable risks.
The pledge focuses on three key areas:
- Human-centred and secure AI research that aligns with societal values.
- Advocating governance frameworks designed to prevent unacceptable risks.
- Collaborating with peers to shape global norms and accountability around AI.
At the heart of Exponential Science’s mission is the research and development team dedicated to advancing the safe and responsible use of emerging technologies that are already shaping global systems. Through continuous analysis and interdisciplinary collaboration, researchers examine the technical, ethical, and societal implications of innovations such as AI, blockchain, and quantum computing. This evidence-based approach ensures that these technologies are continuously assessed and improved to meet evolving global standards, supporting a secure and beneficial digital future.
As AI capabilities continue to accelerate, the need for responsible development has never been more evident. By joining this movement, Exponential Science reaffirms its commitment to ensuring emerging technologies are developed safely, ethically, and for the benefit of all.
This commitment is not just theoretical. It extends directly to the projects Exponential Science is backing, including Nodiens, a web3 risk metric platform where AI is used responsibly in everyday digital activities.
By signing the Global Call for AI Red Lines, Exponential Science joins a growing coalition of organisations dedicated to responsible AI stewardship. By setting these red lines today, industry participants can guide AI towards a future that benefits humanity while mitigating its potential risks.
